William Sonntag was one of the central figures of the Hudson River School. Primarily self-taught, his early landscapes were executed during painting excursions from Cincinnati to the Ohio River Valley and in Kentucky and West Virginia ( and ).
Born in East Liberty, Pennsylvania March 2, , it is believed Sonntag studied for a short period with G. Frankenstein at the Cincinnati Academy of Fine Arts in the early s. By the s, he was famous for his views of sky, earth and water and he painted in New England and upper state New York.
By Sonntag established a fine reputation as a competent landscape painter. He collaborated with John C. Wolfe on a large panorama of Milton's Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained before he traveled to Italy and lived in Florence from After his return from Europe in , he settled in New York City, exhibited extensively and became known for his romantic American and Italian landscapes. In his canvas The Blue Ridge from Near Luray was published engraved by R. Hinshelwood and published in Ladies Repository. By the mid s he was painting Mt. Adams, the Alleghenies, Shenandoah, Behtlehem (NH) and the Adirondacks, and at the end of his life he painted throughout
Tiga
Tiga is the stage name of Montreal-born DJ/producer Tiga James Sontag (born ). He graduated from Selwyn House School, a prestigious school in Westmount. Before producing music, he was involved in the promotion of rave parties in his native city during the early s, also Tiga was involved in the creation of world renowned afterhours club SONA. In , he opened a record store named DNA Records, and in founded his own label, Turbo Recordings. Tiga is widely known for his remixes: Tomas Andersson's "Washing Up", Scissor Sisters' Comfortably Numb and Soulwax's "E-Talking" but also for his covers of Nelly's "Hot in Herre", Public Enemy's "Louder Than a Bomb", Felix da Housecat's "Madame Hollywood" and Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night". He produces his own material, but has also worked with Zyntherius, Richard X and Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters. He has frequently collaborated with Mateo Murphy (with whom Tiga forms the duo TGV) and Jesper Dählback, who had produced many of Tiga's newer remixes. Tiga is also good friends with Stephen and David Dewaele from Soulwax, who produced about half of the tracks on Tiga's debut album Sexor. In he formed a temporary duo with Zombie Nation

Tiga (Tiga Sontag) is an electronic music DJ, producer-composer, and performer from Montreal. Before producing music, Tiga was involved in rave parties in his hometown, he was also involved in the establishment of the after-party club SONA. Known for his remixes of Tomas Andersson, Scissor Sisters, or even Felix da Housecat, he made his own compositions such as the hit You Gonna Want Me. His album Sexor quickly became one of the references of electronic music. He also participates in many electronic music festivals. He is part of the generation of artists who strongly mark a return to new wave in electronic music.

William Louis Sonntag
William Louis Sonntag spent his early years near East Liberty, Pennsylvania, but moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in to pursue his training in art. Sonntag’s earliest landscapes were the product of his frequent excursions in the Ohio River Valley, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Establishing his artistic career, he embarked on a trip to Europe in After an extended stay in Florence, Italy, Sonntag returned to the US, settling in New York to further establish himself as a Romantic painter of Italian landscapes from his travels. Known too for his American landscapes, he is revered as a part of the Hudson River School, though in truth never painted the Hudson River valley itself.
Sonntag was elected an Associate at the National Academy of Design in , and later an Academician, in , among many other organizations. Today his work is represented in the permanent collections of institutions across America, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Art Gallery, Cincinnati Art Museum, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, and Harvard University.
