John Cameron Fogerty was born 28th May , to Galen and Edith Fogerty. He was born in Berkeley, California, in the United States, and he had four brothers.
John Cameron Fogerty studied at St. Mary’s High School, and then transferred to El Cerrito High School. While he was at El Cerrito, he met the other members of the group that would become Creedence Clearwater Revival. His older brother, Tom, would also become a member of the group.
The band originally formed in as a cover band, called Blue Velvets. Fogerty’s brother, Tom, joined the group in The band signed a contract with Fantasy Records, and the record label changed the name of the band to the Golliwogs. They recorded several singles, but they had no success.

John Cameron Fogerty served in the military during and After he was discharged from the army in , he went back to the band, and they changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival. John Cameron Fogerty was born on May 28 in Berkeley, California and is the younger brother of Tom Fogerty. He is famous as the lead guitarist and lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), and is listed on the list of greatest singers. He attended El Cerrito High School and learnt guitar from Barry Oliver- the producer of Berkeley folk Festival. Along with his fellow mates from high school, he formed a band with his brother Tom Fogerty, Doug Clifford and Stu Cook called Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets in El Cettito, California. Later in , they became The Golliwogs and released a few singles that failed to gain popularity.
In , major changes happened to the band. The name changed to Credence Clearwater Revival and John took Tom’s place as the lead singer. The following year saw high hopes for the band. The band released their debut self-titled album and embraced their first hit Susie Q. Other albums Proud Mary and Bayou Country came in the same year.
