Aehra, Filippo Perini: “Passione elettrica e design anni ’70”

Battista Farina is, without a doubt, one of Italy’s prized designers. After giving birth to the legendary Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company in , he and his colleagues went on to create new, postwar platforms that would catapult them into prominence. In , he would be contracted by Ferrari to pen some of their most iconic designs, including the , the Dino Berlinetta Speciale, and, perhaps his greatest work, the Testarossa. After completing his last design for Alfa Romeo (the Duetto, which appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in ), he passed away less than a month later. Despite his departure, Pininfarina remains one of the most prestigious coachbuilding firms around — likely due to Farina’s exceptional principles.
Marcello Gandini is another of Italy’s revered designers, known primarily for his work with the iconic automotive design firm, Gruppo Bertone. He was credited with the creation of two of Lamborghini’s most sought-after vehicles, the early Miura, and the legendary Countach supercars — both of which would catapult him into the limelight as one of the premier designers of his era. Throughout his career, he would pen designs for a menagerie of notable

Filippo Perini on Genesis and the Globalization of Automotive Expertise
From Italy to Seoul.
Change is inevitable, and the proof is incontrovertible. Several of Europe’s top car designers have been recruited by a marque that is not European in the least—or perhaps, through its people, has over time become more influenced by European expertise than many realize.
Genesis was established four years ago as a luxury arm of South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Group. And its most recent European talent acquisition is none other than Filippo Perini, whose influence has been infused in such iconic designs as the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Lamborghini Aventador, and Lamborghini Urus. He joined Genesis in September , enticed by the opportunity to re-establish a working relationship with a former colleague: the famed Belgian designer who today is Hyundai Motor Group’s chief design officer, Luc Donckerwolke.
Perini’s upbringing, in Piacenza and the nearby town of Bobbio in the northwest of Italy’s Motor Valley, was steeped in European car culture. Ferrari, Pagani, Lamborghini, and Maserati are among the famed marques with origins here, and Perini vividly recalls how cars from these brand
