Sept 1 (Reuters) - Yahoo Chief Executive Marissa Mayer is pregnant with identical twin girls, likely due in December, she said in a blog post.
"Since this is a unique time in Yahoo's transformation, I plan to approach the pregnancy and delivery as I did with my son three years ago, taking limited time away and working throughout," Mayer wrote in a post early Tuesday.
Yahoo said in its corporate blog that the company was "extremely happy" for Mayer and supported her plans and approach. ()
Mayer's pregnancy comes at a critical time for Yahoo. The company is preparing to spin off its stake in Alibaba Group Holding Ltd to investors and is also looking at cashing in its stake in Yahoo Japan Corp.
Mayer, 40, was pregnant when she joined Yahoo as CEO in July and gave birth to a baby boy in September that year. She worked from home after the birth and came back to the office just two weeks later.
Her comments at the time that she did not plan to take extended maternity leave stoked a debate about whether her example would help or hurt the cause of women in the workplace. ()

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc Chief Executive Marissa Mayer gave birth to identical twin girls early on Thursday, a day after the company reversed course on a planned spinoff of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
"Our whole family is doing great! Thanks to everyone for all of the support and well wishes throughout my pregnancy," Mayer said in a post on Tumblr, which is owned by Yahoo. ()
The company had no immediate statement on the news beyond Mayer's post. Mayer has previously said she would take limited time away as she works toward turning around the company's struggling online ad business.
Yahoo shelved plans on Wednesday to spin off its stake in Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba amid pressure from activist investors worried about billions of dollars in taxes. Instead, it said it is looking at creating a separate company to hold the rest of its assets.

Mayer received intense scrutiny during her first pregnancy in for returning to work just two weeks after giving birth. Her maternity leave likely won't last much longer this time around.

I want to thank them for all of their encouragement as well as their offers of help and continued support."
Mayer had just been hired as Yahoo's CEO when she announced her first pregnancy. Critics at the time worried that her decision might come back to haunt other women at the company.

Yahoo's chief executive Marissa Mayer is planning to take just two-week's maternity leave after she gives birth to twin girls who she has revealed are due in December.
However, the stock market reacted badly to the announcement with shares in the company falling by more than two percent.
The year-old mother-of-one was pregnant when she joined the company as CEO in July and gave birth the following September.
Despite the arrival of a new baby boy, Mayer continued to work from home and was back in the office within a fortnight.
